The folk group "Istoki" was created by
Bessonova Elena in 1978 in the House of Culture in
the town of Podolsk in Moscow region.
Since 1990 the group has been considered to be the traditional culture center "Istoki" of
southern Podmoskovie under the leadership of the spouses Bessonov, Michael and Elena.
During 25 years of work "Istoki" has found its style and become a genuine carrier of
Russian culture of Podmoscovie.
The center " Istoki " is organizer of a traditional folklore festival
"The gold autumn" in Podolsk.
The center " Istoki " is make folklore expeditions. Huge scientifie stuff of russian folklore,
dances, custom of the Moscow and Tula regions is assembled. Members of center " Istoki "
reconstruct traditional clothes of their ancestors. There are many children of different age
studying in the center " Istoki ".
Not once the adult and the children
group became the winners of the biggest international festivals land contests.
They have been to:
- 1990 International Folklore Festival of Italy, Askoli-Picheno;
- 1992 International Folklore Festival "Simon-Muzika" of Byelorussia;
- 1992 International Children Folklore Festival of Romania, Tulche;
- 1995 International Folklore Festival "Folk - Art" of Slovenia, Maribor;
- 1997 International Children Folklore Festival of Estonia, Narva;
- 1997 International Folklore Festival "Baltica-97" of Latvia, Riga;
- 2001 International Children Folklore Festival "Martynas" of Lithuania, Visaginas;
- 2002 International Folklore Festival "Baltica-2002" of Lithuania, Vilnius.
They widely travel through Russia.
